INTERNAL & INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE, HOMEOPATHY

Dr. Elena Klimenko, MD

Elena Klimenko M.D. is an Integrative Medicine expert. You may be asking, “What is integrative medicine?” Integrative Medicine is a new term that emphasizes the combination of both conventional and alternative approaches to address the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of health and illness. It emphasizes respect for the human capacity for healing and the importance of the relationship between the practitioner and the patient. It’s a collaborative approach to patient care among practitioners and the practice of conventional, complementary, and alternative health care that is evidence-based.

Dr.Klimenko’s affinity for integration of alternative modalities with Western Medicine started during her residency training at SUNY Downstate and Lutheran Medical Center. She was unsatisfied with capacity of Western Medicine to prevent the disease and fatal outcomes of the hospitalization, and progressing cost of American healthcare without significant impact on overall mortality. As a result she started looking for other ways to help people enhance their health.

After her residency Dr. Klimenko spent two years working in Integrative Medicine research as a principal investigator in, “Definition of Health and Healing in Understanding of Mainstream and Alternative Medicine Practitioners”. She also worked in a pilot project, “Acupuncture in Labor and Delivery”. As a result of this work Dr. Klimenko has had three articles published in various American medical Journals.

During this time she studied and was certified to practice Acupuncture in addition to her American Board Certification in Internal Medicine. A few years later she complimented her knowledge with solid training in Homeopathy at CEDH (Continued Education for Doctors in Homeopathy) and became a successful Homeopathic Practitioner and lecturer for the same school.
